Connells snaps up growing ‘mum and son’ Yorkshire agency

Holroyds was established just six years ago but now has three branches and is one of most successful agencies north of Bradford.

Connells business buying spree continues with its acquisition of three-branch family-run Yorkshire estate agency Holroyds for an undisclosed sum.

The business will sit within Connells’ Sequence business and gives it a presence in Baildon, Keithley and Bingley, areas where neither Connells nor Sequence currently have branches.

Holroyds is a relatively young business. Founded in 2015 by mum and son team Julie and Chris Holroyd (main pic, centre) initially in Keighly, it opened a second branch in Bingley during 2016 and a third in Baildon during 2019.

As part of the deal the firm’s founders, branding, branches and its two dozen or so staff will remain in place.

Before co-founding Holroyds Chris worked at both Sequence and Linley & Simpson while his mother Julie worked at Halifax’s estate agency business before joining Your Move.

“Julie and I are thrilled to be joining the team,” says Chris.

Family-run feel

“This significantly propels our offering to another level for both our current clients and new, as well as keeping our family-run feel which has served our clients so well over the last six years.

“We can’t wait to get started and look forward to growing the Holroyds brand over the years to come. This is also a fantastic opportunity for our brilliant team who will now have additional career opportunities.”

Chris Rosindale (main pic, far right), Divisional Managing Director at Sequence, says: “This acquisition demonstrates our continued commitment to our high street operations, and I know that it will bring about our shared success, provide additional career opportunities, and allow both brands to strengthen their presence in this active market.”

Connells Group have not bought Love Financial Services, Holroyds’ separate financial services arm, but the staff are transferring over on completion to work with the Group.
