Conveyancing body appoints new Non-Executive Chair

Former LMS chief executive, Nick Chadbourne, has taken up the role of Non-Executive Chair of The Conveyancing Association (CA) as the industry faces significant reform of the home-moving process.

During his time at LMS, Nick worked across the home-moving market with lenders, conveyancers, mortgage advisers, suppliers and panel managers, giving him a broad view of the property transaction and its pressures.

He will take up the role at the start of October, succeeding Nicky Heathcote who will leave at the end of her second term.

A voice for conveyancers

Paul’s priority will initially be to listen to CA members and affiliates before agreeing longer-term priorities with the Board.

He said: “The next few years are going to be hugely important for conveyancing and the wider home-moving market.

“Reform of the home buying and selling process is coming, and it is vital this happens with conveyancers rather than to them.”

Paul also said the CA needed to maintain its focus on the everyday pressures facing firms, including fee levels, caseloads and maintaining technical knowledge.

“Fee levels, caseload pressures, maintaining technical knowledge and the practical problems firms encounter week-in, week-out all matter, and the bigger reform agenda cannot be allowed to crowd those issues out,” he added.

His experience across the conveyancing and wider property market, and the relationships he has developed, will bring an important new perspective to this work.”
