The mobile app ‘Man & Van’, which launched just three years ago to deliver on-demand transportation, has become increasingly popular with letting agents and landlords with enquiries more than doubling in the last 12 months.

The app enables users to book and pay independent contractors, who bid to win removal or transportation jobs, via the app. The company’s pool of ‘Man & Van’ drivers has now grown to 3,066.

‘Man & Van’ is designed to help users move anything from A to B via the mobile app, whether moving to a new house or simply transferring or recycling a single item. Its services have proved useful to landlords and letting agents looking for house clearances, end of tenancy waste disposal and helping to tenants to move.

One regular user, Tony Lanz Bergin, Managing Director of Bergins Estates, said, “We have been using Man & Van since it first started and its fantastic. It enables us to help landlords get their properties cleared and ready for new tenants with very little notice. They also know that we are going to get the best price for them as drivers are competing against others for the job.”

Users download the ‘Man & Van’ app for free, specify the type of job (single item, multiple items, a removal, tip run etc.), take pictures of the item(s) using their phone, add location information, select preferred timeframe and then request quotes. Through the driver version of the app, the pool of ‘Man & Van’ independent removal operators receive new job notifications for their location and can quote on any job, with the user able to select the best quote based on price and driver ratings from past customers. Once the user has selected their favoured quote, they are then required to pay a deposit to secure the job. All of the activity in the app is moderated to prevent misuse.

Simon Thompson, Managing Director of ‘Man & Van’, as well as several other successful digital businesses including www.accommodationforstudents.com said, “The business has three key advantages over traditional removal and transportation services: Efficiency (the volume of drivers enables same day delivery), competitive pricing (the choice of quotes and rated drivers can mean cheaper prices and better quality as drivers want the positive reviews) and peace of mind (users are offered 100% refund in the event of a no show). It’s a simple concept that makes the logistics of moving things from A to B much quicker and easier which is why it has become so popular with the landlords and agents who often need things transporting at short notice.”

‘Man & Van’ already operates across every major city in the UK, but in a market estimated to be worth £934 million per annum, Simon has plans to double his pool of drivers by the end of the year making it even more accessible.

The app is available on IOS and Android.
