FINALLY: a novel with an estate agent as its hero!

There are so many novels whose main characters are doctors, lawyers and police officers, but this one has a high street estate agent as its centre.

Dale Bradford

The Time Travelling Estate Agent is a new book by Dale Bradford and unusually it has a high-street estate agent as its hero.

Magazine editor Bradford has written three books, including From Sex Shops To Supermarkets: How Adult Toys Became and The Honey Peach Affair. This, though, is the first one based in the property world.

The book blends elements of sci-fi with mismatched romance and murder and is centred around a 60-year-old estate agent, Eric Meek, who discovers a time portal in his garage, which he uses to right the wrongs of the past.

I’ve always been fascinated by the business of selling houses.”

“I’ve always been fascinated by the business of selling houses,” says Bradford, “and I even looked into becoming an estate agent around 30 years ago. Life took me down a different path, but I have nothing but admiration for the profession.”

He adds: “I conducted extensive research for the book but I’m not an industry insider, so I’m sure real estate agents will shake their heads at certain points and say, ‘Well that wouldn’t happen’.

“One of the early readers, for instance, said she found it hard to believe how quickly Eric was able to expedite the sale of a property when he needed to. I thought, ‘Really? In a book that features time travel, that’s what you find unrealistic?’”

Trilogy

While it’s too early to say if this could be the start of a wave of titles with estate agent heroes, Bradford is currently working on the next instalment in what will become The Time-Travelling Estate Agent trilogy.

The Time-Travelling Estate Agent is available now in ebook (£1.99), paperback (£11.99), and hardback (£16.99) and is free to read on Kindle Unlimited. The first four chapters can also be read online instantly via Amazon’s Read Sample facility.
