Landlord TV favourite hints at Strictly appearance

Homes Under The Hammer host, Martin Roberts says he is in advanced talks with the BBC show's bosses and hopes to change his diet and 'get fit' before the show starts.

Martin Roberts of Homes Under The HammerTV star Martin Roberts has said that he’s expecting to appear on the next series of BBC show Strictly Come Dancing.

The property expert and Homes Under the Hammer host has been in talks with producers since 2021, according to The Daily Star, and is waiting to sign on the dotted line. This is not the first appearance on reality TV for Roberts, 60, as he appeared on ITV’s I’m a Celebrity eight years ago.

During a recent Television and Radio Industries Club awards, he told the newspaper: “I’m like a Ninja Mutant Hero Turtle – I just eat pizzas.

“I should worry about what I eat because I had a health scare. I need to look after myself better. And certainly, if I get this TV show later in the year. I’ll have to get super fit.”

Covid

In the past Roberts has criticised the growing number of unscrupulous operators in the ‘property guru training’ sector who he said “came out of the woodwork during Covid, offering the opportunity to become property millionaires overnight”.

He has also spoken about wanting to raise the profile of landlords, the majority of whom are “hard-working people who charge reasonable rents and run their properties well”.

“Many of the people who feature on Homes Under the Hammer are using their hard-earned cash to turn derelict or run-down properties into decent homes,” he said.

“But at the same time the government is creating more and more regulations and trying to make investing in property unattractive. It’s a real shame – because it will have a disproportionate effect on the smaller, family landlords who have one or two properties.”
