Spicerhaart ‘forges’ new employment model for estate agents

Forge gives agents self-employed-style autonomy but with a salary, benefits and full backing from the national group.

Forge Spicerhaart

Spicerhaart has launched a new employment model designed to give estate agents more freedom over how they run their local territory, while remaining part of a well-resourced national organisation.

The model, Forge – Empowered by Spicerhaart, will sit alongside the group’s traditional ways of working and gives agents the opportunity to shape “how their role and business area operate – akin to being self-employed”.

Forge – Empowered by Spicerhaart aims to offer the best of both worlds.”

Giles Hart, Managing Director of Forge, who is leading the launch, says: “Agents are often forced to choose between a salaried branch role or going fully self-employed with limited backing. Forge – Empowered by Spicerhaart aims to offer the best of both worlds.”

He adds: “Partners will still operate as part of our brands, working remotely or in-branch, while supported by Spicerhaart’s infrastructure, tools and culture.”

High basic salary

Spicerhaart said Forge Partners will receive a high basic salary supported by commission, plus holiday and sick pay, a car allowance or company car, and a pension, alongside tech, marketing and sales tools “typically reserved for branch-based roles.”

According to the agency, partners will also have access to “market-leading technology” that can be used on the go, “digital and social media marketing supported by advanced AI systems”, a “dedicated management structure”, and “extensive lead generation” from its branch network and central contact centre, operating from 8am to 10pm.

This move differentiates us from other agency groups offering franchise or associate-style self-employed models.”

Hart says: “This move differentiates us from other agency groups offering franchise or associate-style self-employed models, many of which have struggled to deliver consistent productivity or meaningful scale.”

He added: “We’ve identified partnership opportunities in more than 112 new locations, transforming our reach, our service and our productivity as a group.”
