BidX1, one of the fastest growing online auction platforms in the UK, has brought the hammer down on another strong appointment – recruiting Richard Watson who has joined the team as Head of Residential Auctions in the United Kingdom.

Richard (left) will work alongside auctioneer Oliver Childs who joined the team last year as head of commercial auctions. BidX1 is now one of only two auctioneers in the UK with a dedicated commercial and residential department.

Having qualified as a Chartered Surveyor in 2003, Richard joins BidX1 from Allsop where he spent 17 years working within the commercial and residential auction sectors. With his extensive experience in traditional auctions, he is an active member of both the RICS and NAVA Auction Committees.

From January Richard will be leading BidX1’s residential division, which has 160 years auction experience across the UK also includes the team formerly of Andrews & Robertson.

BidX1 has 280 years combined experience of managing and running auctions throughout the United Kingdom. In September 2018, BidX1 attracted a new stakeholder, Pollen Street Capital, which has also committed up to £15 million to help the business expand into Greek, Spanish and South African markets.

After a successful first year of digital auctions in the United Kingdom, raising over £73 million for clients, they will be holding regular online auctions throughout 2019. Richard’s first residential auction will be held on 26th February followed by a commercial auction on the 27th February.
