There was great excitement in Sherborne Dorset in March when the BBC arrived to film Symonds & Sampson’s first property auction of 2018.

People from all over the south of England including a strong contingent from London and the south coast packed the sale room to bid for properties in Dorset and Somerset.

Auctioneer Mark Lewis was pleased to welcome the BBC back to the auction room, “We have appeared numerous times on the daytime programme Homes under the Hammer but when the production team moved to Scotland they felt that our auctions were too far away. On 16th March they were filming for a programme ‘The Village’ which will feature Milton Abbas and they filmed the village street and met the person who was selling his cottage.

It is one of the classic thatched properties that dates from 1780, in the main street. It had been in the same family for over thirty years but now needs renovation. Guided at £250,000 bidding was brisk and the hammer fell at £298,000 to a buyer from West Sussex.

The BBC programme should be aired in the autumn of this year.
