Brush with fame: online-only estate agent signs deal with famous paint brand

The Modern House is to help its clients paint their homes with advice and seminars from Farrow & Ball.

A national online estate agency lauded in Esquire magazine for ‘rewriting the rules of estate agency’ has signed a deal with upmarket paint manufacturer Farrow and Ball.

The partnership will see clients of The Modern House offered free appointments with Farrow & Ball Colour Consultants at the agency’s HQ near Waterloo in London on March 2nd.

This will include a presentation on how to decorate modernist homes, a film screening plus a presentation from Patrick O’Donnell, Farrow & Ball’s International Colour Consultancy Manager.

The Modern House has also launched a four-part promotional film to support the partnership called Living with Colour.

The Modern House was established in 2005 by Matt Gibberd and Albert Hill (pictured, below) and has grown from initially just specialising in modern houses for sale, to being a mecca for advice and information about modern homes, architecture, architects and interior design all featured within its online magazine.

The company recently revealed that its website receives over three million visits a year and has 50,000 followers on Instagram. It told a glossy magazine recently that its business is based on the insight that many estate agents ‘fundamentally do not understand design and lifestyle’.

The agency’s name comes from F.R.S. Yorke’s 1934  book ‘The Modern House’, which introduced Modern Movement architecture to a British audience, and the company has gone on to publish several of its own books.

The Modern House employs approximately 20 people including viewing hosts, sales advisors, appraisals specialists and also a former Monocle magazine writer.
