An estate agent’s attempt to sell a fire-damaged former cannabis farm (pictured, above) in Harrogate has gone viral on social media.

The short video by single-branch agency Protheroe Properties, which features one of the company’s negotiators touring the property on Suttcliffe Street in Harrogage, is not your average virtual tour.

The three-bedroom terraced house, which is on the market for £49,995 with the estate agency, has clearly been used as a cannabis farm with plants still visible in situ on the second floor and weed growing equipment strewn around the property.

A fire has badly damaged two rooms on the second floor, while much of the property has been trashed by its previous occupants and is described as for ‘cash buyers only’.

cannabis house“It’s suffered significant damage is probably the best way to put it,” the video commentary by agency founder and blogger Adam Protheroe (pictured) says as the video pans across a lounge covered in rubble.

“Going upstairs to a room apparently still full of cannabis plants,” he says, “and you can probably see what’s been occurring, shall we say”.

Adam Protheroe set up his eponymous agency in 2010 after five years  working at a local Countrywide agency, Taylors, and before that a seven year stint in the Royal Navy.

A freedom of information request submitted in 2020 found that Harrogate is the cannabis farm capital of North Yorkshire.
