Original Ewemove franchisees step away from property market
Bill and Geraldine Miller were one of hybrid agency's initial 14 joiners but are now selling up.

One of the founding franchisees of hybrid estate agency Ewemove have retired eight years after setting up their business in Gainsborough, Lincolnshire.
Bill and Geraldine Miller set up Ewemove Gainsborough Ltd in March 2013 after attending a sales pitch by the then fledgling franchised hybrid estate agency. It is listed as Ewemove Scunthorpe South and currently has 15 properties for sales.
The couple were one of the first 14 to come on board and get the overall business of the ground.
“We went to a presentation back in December 2012 where the original EweMove founders, Glenn and David, shared their vision for the brand,” says Bill Miller.
He is referring to David Laycock and Glenn Ackroyd, two friends with no estate agency background who grew the business until it was bought by Martin & Co parent company TPFG, exiting the business in the Summer of 2017.
Property background
“I had a background in property and was intent on going there and not being sold to,” says Miller.
“We turned up, bagged front row seats, and I then folded my arms as if to say, ‘go on then impress me’.
“Within ten minutes of listening to the plans they had for doing estate agency differently, I was sitting on the edge of my seat keen to get cracking. I was impressed with the clarity of the plans.
“Fast forward eight years and we’ve enjoyed a lot of success and had some very enjoyable times. It’s been great to be in at the start of something which has grown into a successful national agency.”
The couple have found a buyer for the franchise, who will work with them for a few months before taking over.
