Hamptons International mourns loss of much-loved branch manager
52-year-old Jamie Reynolds had worked as an estate agent for 25 years before succumbing to cancer at the end of August.
The window display of the Hamptons International branch in St Albans has been turned into a tribute to its former branch manager Jamie Reynolds who died recently aged 52 following an 18-month battle with cancer.
Reynolds had been senior branch manager at the office for nearly four years when he succumbed to the disease at the end of August, but had worked in the town for 25 years as an estate agent.
More than 300 people attended his funeral last week at West Herts Crematorium which was followed by a wake in the pub opposite his branch.
Colleagues at the funeral said the crematorium was ‘full to the rafters’ with friends and colleagues; he had been brought up in St Albans, lived there for many years and worked at several local estate agencies before joining Hamptons International including, most recently, Druce & Partners and Collinson Hall.
The service was also joined by many of the people he’d sold houses for and who had subsequently become friends.
Well known
“Jamie would’ve loved it. He was that type of character. He was so well known in St Albans,” his colleague Nadya Basrawi told local media.
“He came into work and got on with it. He didn’t pay it too much attention. We knew he was poorly, we spoke about it in very general terms. I think he preferred not to dwell on it.
“We’ve had people coming past [the window display] to have a look and we’ve had letters and emails from people to say it was a nice touch.”
The window display includes pictures from Jamie Reynolds’ career and personal life. He leaves behind a wife, Kate, and two children Sam, 20 and Holly, 18.
