An estate agency has agreed to stop claiming it has more 5 star reviews than any competitor, after a complaint to the Advertising Standards Authority.

NEXA Properties, based in Southsea, Portsmouth, claimed it was an “award winning agency with more 5* reviews than ANY other local agent”.

Misleading

A complainant, most likely a competitor, challenged this claim, saying it was misleading because NEXA could not prove it.

On its website the agency, which deals with sales, lettings and property management, says: “NEXA was founded to fill a clear service gap in the industry and provide a unique customer-centric estate agency to the UK.

“NEXA Properties was founded to remove the stigma and negativity typically associated with traditional home estate agents,” it adds.

Complaint

A spokesperson for the ASA said: “We received a complaint about two posts on the Blue Tewkesbury – NEXA Properties Facebook page and the @blueestateagent Instagram page, both featuring the claim ” “Award winning agency with more 5* reviews than ANY other local agent”.

“The complainant argued that this was misleading and couldn’t be substantiated,” he said.

“We spoke with NEXA Properties, and they agreed to remove the claim from their ads. As such, we consider the matter closed.”

Blue Tewkesbury is a client director with Nexa Properties.
