OnTheMarket says it has caught up Rightmove… among builders
Portal's John Doyle says it has seen a significant increase in the number of developers and house-builders listing properties on its site.
The battle of the portals has hotted up after OnTheMarket (OTM) this morning claimed that it is the portal of choice for housebuilders and developers, while also confirming that it aims to overtake both Rightmove and Zoopla.
OTM says it has seen a significant increase in the number of developer and house builder advertisers joining its platform, bringing its stock up to 95% of Rightmove’s developer listings for the first time.
This is the first sign of OTM taking the battle to its competitors publicly following its £100m purchase by US property giant CoStar six months ago.
Since then, OnTheMarket reveals it has surpassed 15,000 advertisers, which includes both estate agents and developers, exceeding its previous high of 13,867 back in June 2020.
By comparison, Rightmove has 19,116 and Zoopla, which has stopped reporting its advertiser number, said in 2020 that it had just shy of 16,000 advertisers.
More clients
OTM’s new clients include social BTR giant Places for People, which has more than 240,000 properties under management, while the Leader Romans Group signed up earlier this year.
The portal now has 165 developments to its site since the start of this year, it reports.
“I’m thrilled that our New Homes division has reached another important milestone and now boasts more developments on the site than ever before,” says John Doyle, Head of New Homes at OTM (main picture)
“The backing of our advertisers is an incredible endorsement of the direction in which the business is headed.”
Richard Webster at Places for People adds: “OnTheMarket has proved to be a valuable tool for marketing our listings and we have seen leads coming directly from all our developments.”
