Property leaders launch coalition to fight for better PRS

Propertymark is leading the Housing Coalition to battle for improved conditions for landlords and tenants.

housing coalition

Property leaders have joined together to fight for a better deal for landlords and tenants through a new housing campaign platform.

Propertymark has formed the Housing Coalition with other leading sector organisations, forums and landlord associations to coordinate the launch of a group committed to ‘fairer renting’.

The group has been formed to allow a collaborative voice to improve standards within the sector, and make private renting fairer for the benefit of landlords, agents, and tenants.

Adverse impact

The key areas the Coalition will campaign on include:

Renters (Reform) Bill – the Coalition wants to ensure the new legislation maintains the interests of everyone in the PRS.

Legal and court reform – while the Coalition recognises that the abolition of Section 21 ‘no fault’ evictions may have an adverse impact on the sector, it recognises cross-party support for the move.

Improving standards within the private rental sector – the introduction of the Decent Homes Standard must be tailored to the private rented sector.

Fantastic

The Coalition is supported by Andrew Lewer, the Conservative MP who chairs the All-Party Parliamentary Group for the PRS.
