The data company is helping agents prepare for the homebuying reforms and to deliver faster transactions, says Chief Executive Simon Brown.

Landmark Information Group has launched a new search bundle designed to help agents prepare for the Government’s home buying and selling reforms.

The Sales Pack Ready kit combines a Personal Local Search, a Drainage and Water Search and Homecheck Residential with condition reports also available through the property data group.

It gives property professionals – including estate agents – access to the search and property condition information identified in the Government’s reform proposals.

The move towards greater upfront property information, through Project 28 and alongside Government reforms, will require every part of the market.”

The sales pack is the first in a series of reform-ready solutions, Landmark said.

It comes as Landmark’s data shows that the average time from instruction to completion has increased to 123 days, up 18% since 2019 and 64% since 2007.

Through the Project 28 Charter, organisations from across the property industry – including Landmark – have come together behind a blueprint for faster, more transparent and more certain transactions. One of its core commitments is making relevant property information available earlier in the transaction process.

Getting the market moving

Simon Brown (pictured), Chief Executive at Landmark Information Group, says: “The move towards greater upfront property information, through Project 28 and alongside Government reforms, will require every part of the market to adapt how transactions are prepared and how information is shared.

“Sales Pack Ready is the first in a series of solutions we are developing specifically around the Home Buying and Selling reform roadmap. It represents an important step in helping the industry move towards transactions that are better informed, more connected and more certain from the outset.”

“Landmark is committed to giving customers the trusted information, connected technology and practical tools they need to navigate a changing property market, not only preparing them for reform but also helping them deliver faster, more certain transactions today.”

  1. Hmm, lets say the extra ‘cost’ because of upfront sales packs is £250, (and of course then there is the issue of who pays for this), but just doing the maths, 1.6m packs required a year (1.21m completions) means an extra cost of £400M a year just entered the system. My thoughts and those of my director dog Zara who has been on countless calls to various entities is – if £400M a year was not wasted in this commercially driven but ultimately pointless initiative – but was instead put into Machine Learning with the prompt ‘Why do sales not get from sold subject to contract to exchange’, and then ‘fixing’ these reasons one-by-one – we could actually solve the problem. It is a Blockbuster / Netflix moment, Blockbuster thought it was selling vids through the post, Netflix put ML behind their operations and discovered/realised the real commercial model, the rest if history.
