Mark Hayward, who retires from Propertymark at the end December, is to join home move platform Just Move In as an advisor and brand ambassador.

The 69-year-old, whose career included seven years as chief executive of Propertymark and before that four years on its board, has been the trade body’s policy chief over the past year after being persuaded to delay his retirement.

His involvement with Just Move In will include helping create products that appeal to agents – the platform has grown fast by helping home movers avoid hassle by managing essential admin for them, as well as saving them money on their bills.

The company also recently announced the arrival of a new chairman, John Browett. He was formerly chief executive of major UK businesses including Tesco.com, Dixons Retail, Monsoon-Accessorize, and Dunelm Group.

New challenge

“After a long career in the property industry, I’m ready for a new challenge, and I can’t wait to join Just Move In,” says Hayward.

“It’s an incredible time to be coming on board, with the property market buoyant and demand for their service booming.

“More and more consumers demand that the services they use take sustainability seriously, and Just Move In is perfectly placed thanks to its ethical agenda.”

Ross Nichols, Co-founder of Just Move In, says: “We’re delighted to welcome Mark to the team, and will find his experience invaluable as we grow.”

Hayward is to begin his work for the company next month once his commitments to Propertymark have ended.
