    Lomond Capital’s £37.5m pot to buy estate agencies

     Lomond Capital’s latest purchase is the acquisition of a majority stake in the South Coast estate agency and lettings group, Brand Vaughan. Lomond Capital recently announced the completion of a highly successful fund raising process which has provided £37.5 million of capital to fund expansion on the South Coast of England and London.  In preparation for this next phase of expansion, Lomond has appointed a new Group Managing Director, Bruce Evans. Previously the Managing Director of Countrywide’s operations in London and South of England, Evans rounds up the group’s extensive knowledge of the property industry across the UK. His previous experience will prove hugely valuable in its expansion into the South while he will play a vital role in Lomond’s growth in existing markets. Its latest purchase is the purchase of a majority stake in the South Coast estate agency and lettings group, Brand Vaughan, which will continue to operate under the current name is the first of a number of acquisitions in this expansion across the region. It manages more than 1,250 properties and sells more than £175 million worth of property per annum throughout Brighton and the surrounding area.     Hunters launches ‘first of its kind’ qualifications

    Franchise estate agency chain Hunters has revealed details of its new national qualifications, which it claims are the first to be created by an estate agency for its staff. Called the Hunters National Qualifications (HNQs) each of the six different courses are delivered through both classroom training and e-learning via the company’s Training Academy platform. The qualifications will be recognised by both the NAEA and ARLA, and those achieving the HNQs will then be able to join the organisations. “There are still far too many stories in the media about rogue estate agents; we aim to set industry standards by ensuring all our staff are trained to their best ability, which we hope our peers will follow,” says Glynis Frew, Managing Director of Hunters Property Group (pictured, left). New and existing Hunters employees are now able to attain three different levels of qualification in either sales or letting. The highest is an HNQ Award, the middle rung an HNQ Certificate and base qualification an HNQ Diploma. Staff progress through each qualification in three steps or levels and, unusually, the training is linked to their work practices and uses Hunters’ software to ensure they are applying their training correctly at a branch level.     Zoopla claims 40 branches have returned to it from OTM

    Zoopla Property Group has announced that over 40 agent branches have recently returned to it after initially leaving to list with on OnTheMarket, including a raft of multi-branch agencies and several independents. These include Howard Cundey which has 12 branches in Surrey, Sussex and Kent as well as Jeffries with nine branches in Hampshire (including a recent purchase of a single-agent rival). Other smaller but still multi-branch agents include TaylorMilburn with two branches in Essex; Jon Simon with three branches in and around Manchester and Midcalf Nichols, which has two branches in Stourbridge. “Agents now firmly grasp the ZPG value proposition and cannot afford to be at a competitive disadvantage, using services that simply do not deliver value for their business,” says Mark Goddard, Managing Director, ZPG Property Services (pictured, left). “We have the most effective marketing platform, the best software solutions and are now generating new revenue streams for our partners through products such as MoveIT.” Earlier this month the company claimed that in total over 500 agents had returned to it from OnTheMarket.
