Expanding 11-branch SW estate agency Cooper and Tanner has bought a rival letting operation in Wells, the UK’s smallest cathedral city.

The multi-disciplinary estate agency has acquired Jill Meadows Lettings from its eponymous founder for an undisclosed sum, giving it a new lettings portfolio in and around the city.

Cooper and Tanner already has a dedicated sales branch on Broad Street in Wells with three staff.

The new lettings operation, which will headed-up by Jean Moakes and be rebranded, will be supported by Meadows as a consultant during the handover period.

Of her remaining team, one will join Cooper and Tanner while a second is ‘seeking opportunities elsewhere’.

Meadows has built up an enviable reputation as the leading independent letting agent in the area and her operation’s new owner says its dedicated to providing her landlords and tenants with the ‘exemplary service that both firms are already known for’.

Cooper and Tanner says this acquisition is part of its ongoing drive to push forward into new territories and that its letting department has been grown exponentially over the past five years.

“Our teams strive to provide exceptional service to both landlords and tenants, and we thank Jill for her support in making this process a success.”
