Respected West Country estate agent and auctioneer dies after short illness

68-year-old Michael Joyce had been working as a consultant for Cooper & Tanner in recent years following a long career at the multi-disciplinary firm.

Michael Joyce (pictured), a former senior managing partner of West Country multi-disciplinary estate agent Cooper and Tanner has died following a short illness.

The 68-year-old auctioneer and land agent had only recently stepped down as a director of the firm, and 2022 would have marked his 50th anniversary with the company, which he’d worked for since 2018 as a consultant after 22 years as a senior member of the team.

“On retiring from the Partnership, Michael remained with us as a Senior Consultant, with his renowned levels of client service and expansive knowledge making him the ‘go to’ person for a vast range of agricultural projects and topics.

All who worked with Michael, both directly and indirectly, benefitted from both his wisdom and gentlemanly conduct. Cooper and Tanner benefits from a ‘family’ atmosphere, particularly in comparison to other firms.

Michael Joyce passed away at the Bath Royal United Hospitals surrounded by his family. He leaves a widow, Allyson, two daughters Lucy and Jessica and a granddaughter, Daisy.
