True cost of Phil and Kirsty’s ‘love it’ TV property advice: £54,000
Phil and Kirsty are so enshrined in TV property mania they don’t even need surnames, but do estate agents make enough use of the dynamic duo’s advice? If not, perhaps they should – even if it’s ‘just a refresher’. With, hopefully, a less anxious, more lively property sales market – 2020 should be a great year – if you have the vision… So here’s some food for thought, inspired by ‘Love it or list it?’ and kindly supplied by www.insulationexpress.co.uk. After watching series 1-4 of the TV show, they uncovered that the average Love It or List It home renovation costs £54,111. And the programme has also proved that many potential buyers see a home and immediately ‘see’ the potential problems. However, the smart agent has suggestions for a solution to practically anything, but this is a launchpad for your own list of potential issues and solutions. Problem Solution Notes A lack of space Add a loft conversion or an extension to the house. Researchers do our Location, Location, Location, research says Kirstie
Have you ever been impressed by how TV presenters Phil Spencer and Kirstie Allsopp are so knowledgeable about each property featured on their Channel 4 show? If the answer is yes, then we’re sorry to say you’ve been hoodwinked. After 17 years on our screens it turns out the pair don’t do any of the research into the properties they take house hunters to view during Location, Location, Location. The revelation came after Kirstie appeared at a recent Daily Telegraph-sponsored public event at which she was asked during a Q&A with audience members about where she got her detailed knowledge about the properties and the local markets. And it turns out the programme’s researchers do all the property research and give the pair their air of authority. Location, Location, Location Kirstie said at the event that the producer and director of the show draw up a list of 80 properties for the home hunters to view and then go and visit 30 of them, while Kirstie and Phil visit the three or four properties they are filmed in during each programme. She also revealed that she and Phil came up with the idea for Location, Location, Location but ended up…

Phil and Kirstie favourites to join Great British Bake Off
Speculation is growing that the UK’s most famous property personalities Kirstie Allsopp and Phil Spencer stand a good chance of being the next presenters of BBC flagship programme The Great British Bake Off. After Sue Perkins and Mel Giedroyc announced they were to leave the show, along with Mary Berry, the hunt has been on for a new duo to front the programme. But although stars such as Jennifer Saunders, Davina McColl, Clare Balding, Geri Halliwell and Masterchef winner Lisa Faulkner have been in the frame, Kirstie and Spencer are now one of the betting favourites, placed third most likely at 7-1 by Betway. On Saturday it was revealed by Channel 4 that Phil and Kirstie, who are still contracted to the channel and continue to make Location, Location, Location and other series, had met the channel’s bosses to discuss a potential move from property to property tea. The duo are reported to have told bosses they are the “perfect fit” and a Channel 4 spokesperson told the Daily Mirror that “they poke fun at each other and are not afraid to go along with innuendos [and] they can match, if not better, Mel and Sue”. Other advantages of Phil…
