51% of people looking to move home next year
A survey by developer David Wilson Homes has revealed huge number planning on moving home next year.

The New Year is one of the most frenetic periods for the industry and this year it could be even busier with 51% of Brits aiming to move home during 2025 according to David Wilson Homes’ Sales Director, Gavin Powell.
Last year, Rightmove saw visits to their site double between Christmas and Boxing Day and estate agency inquiries more than tripled. However, David Wilson Homes’ analysis shows that only 44% of people know that this is the busiest period for buying, meaning they may be unprepared for the competitive landscape.
No plan
The same research also shows 57% of those surveyed confess that they have no plan of action in place to make moving home a reality.

Powell says: “Starting the new year by buying a new home may be a dream for many, but the surge in buying at the start of the year can make the process more difficult.”
He has produced a checklist to help buyers cope with the expected surge in activity, suggesting they formulate a clear plan of what they want and ‘start looking early’.
Powell also emphasises the need for them to keep up-to-date with the current ‘buying landscape’, telling house hunters they need to “understand the current demand in your area, average property prices.’
