Legal sector leader admits conveyancing is ‘too slow’

ONP says it has increased capacity by 30% to help make conveyancing quicker as the housing market booms.

Leading law firm ONP Group has admitted the conveyancing process needs to speed up as it reveals a 30% increase in capacity.

The company said the legal part of house purchases needs to become more efficient, and its new recruits will help to achieve this.

ONP’s relaunched academy, established early last year, has yielded 187 conveyancers into the market, boosting its total workforce to 640.

The newest intake of trainees is due to start an eight-week course at the HQ in Stockport next month, as ONP responds to a buoyant housing market with huge pressure to complete transactions quickly.

Build success

Adam Forshaw, ONP managing director, (pictured) says: “We believe in investing in the conveyancing market and bringing new people into our industry.

“Increasing our headcount by 30% in the past year, shows our dedication to increasing our conveyancing capacity and helping to make life easier for brokers and their clients.

By investing in our technology at the same time as our people, we are freeing up time for our case managers.”

“We seek to build upon both the challenges and the business successes of the past two years, which saw exceptional demand,” he says.

Forshaw also says the company has emphasised the importance of IT. “By investing in our technology at the same time as our people, we are freeing up time for our case managers, giving them more time to devote to brokers and their clients.”

ONP Group, which called for same-day exchange and completions at the beginning of the Covid pandemic, incorporates O’Neill Patient Solicitors, Grindeys, and Cavendish Legal Group.
