Calls for support for second Ukraine aid mission
Viewber boss, Ed Mead, is planning a June convoy to deliver more trucks and vital trailers to the Ukrainian frontlines and asks the property to help.
Ed Mead, founder of outsourced viewings service Viewber, is returning to Ukraine on a second humanitarian mission, and he’s calling on the property industry to get involved.
Following a successful trip earlier this year delivering pick-up trucks to support Ukrainian frontline logistics, Ed says he was struck by an urgent need expressed by local troops: two-wheel trailers to accompany the vehicles, giving them more autonomy in the field.
“Whilst in Ukraine on our last trip we were taken to a drone factory and asked what the guys in the field really need,” said Ed. “They said that whilst the pick-ups are useful, what they really need to be completely autonomous in the field is two wheel trailers to add to the pick-ups.”
Trailer task
Now, he’s organising a second convoy to deliver flat-packed trailers in late June and has already had two estate agents commit to joining the effort following a LinkedIn post – aiming to raise around £5,000 to fund a truck and trailer. Crucially, each participant self-funds their trip, meaning all money raised goes directly to equipment and supplies.
Responding to those who question whether the war is about to end in Ukraine and if help is still needed, Ed replied: “I’m sure we all wish for that BUT, even if this does happen, there’ll have to be the most enormous clear up operation and they’ll need as much help with that too, so efforts won’t cease.”
He’s urging others to either join the convoy or contribute to the fundraising effort, with donations going toward additional trailers and medical supplies such as emergency bergens.
“This help makes a real difference,” Mead adds. “The emotional reactions we saw last time were incredibly moving.”
Ed’s work is being achieved through the Pickups for Peace (P4P) initiative, which has already delivered 571 4WD vehicles, ambulances and quad bikes to Ukraine, loaded with essential aid to support those most in need.
