Chestertons celebrates London Pride
Chestertons colleagues gathered to celebrate Pride in London, with Regional Sales Director Tony Gambrill reflecting on changing diversity attitudes.
Chestertons brought colleagues and clients together to celebrate Pride in London this month, hosting a gathering on Whitehall to watch the annual parade while highlighting the importance of inclusion across the property industry.
The event was organised by Tony Gambrill, Regional Sales Director for North and East London. He grew up in Australia and attended Sydney’s Mardi Gras before moving to Britain in 1999 and joining Chestertons in 2006.
Reflecting on his career, Tony said: “Growing up in the 1980s there was obviously prejudice against the gay community, particularly in corporate life. There were times when you thought carefully about how much of yourself to share.
“Thankfully, attitudes have changed enormously over the last 20 years or so, and Pride is a reminder of how far we’ve come.
“I was fortunate enough to experience Sydney Mardi Gras before moving to Britain and joining Chestertons in 2006, and it’s been fantastic to see London Pride become such a vibrant celebration of diversity, community and inclusion.”
Inclusive workplaces
Tony believes the collaborative nature of estate agency has played an important role in creating more inclusive workplaces.
He added: “Estate agency is often perceived as a hard-nosed sales environment, but that’s not the culture I’ve experienced at Chestertons. Yes, we’re ambitious and driven, but we’re also collaborative, supportive and genuinely care about our clients and each other.
“Every day we’re helping people through some of life’s biggest decisions. That means listening carefully, communicating clearly and solving problems calmly.”
Chestertons says it remains committed to fostering an inclusive workplace where colleagues feel supported to develop their careers, believing that diverse teams bring broader perspectives and ultimately deliver better outcomes for clients.
