Social post sparks £1k charity boost for CPS Homes marathon runner
Rightmove has donated £500 to Tŷ Hafan after CPS Homes posted a social media campaign for its Sales Director, with the company then matching the figure.
A Cardiff estate agency’s social media campaign has resulted in a £1,000 boost for children’s hospice charity Tŷ Hafan, after a fundraising appeal for the Cardiff Half Marathon prompted support from both CPS Homes and Rightmove.
Nathan Walker, Sales Director at CPS Homes (main image), is taking on the 13.1-mile challenge to raise funds for Tŷ Hafan in honour of his late nephews.
CPS Homes shared details of his training and fundraising efforts across its social media channels, where the campaign caught the attention of a newly appointed Rightmove Account Manager.
The Rightmove representative subsequently contacted the estate agency independently to offer corporate support, arranging a £500 donation to Tŷ Hafan.
CPS Homes has matched the contribution, bringing the total raised through the two businesses to £1,000.
Community support
Barrie James, Director at CPS Homes, said: “We initially shared Nathan’s fundraising journey to help him build momentum, and as a company, we were already set to back his efforts with a £500 donation from CPS Homes.
“However, seeing Rightmove get involved completely unsolicited off the back of an online post was a fantastic surprise – it really shows the power of social media in driving community support.
“Tŷ Hafan provides priceless support to children with life-shortening conditions and their families across Wales, so combining our company match with Rightmove’s contribution to turn a simple online update into £1,000 of direct funding is incredibly rewarding.”
Nathan is continuing his fundraising efforts ahead of the Cardiff Half Marathon, with the campaign demonstrating how social media can help connect local fundraising initiatives with wider corporate support.
