Estate agency figure Sean Newman has launched his bid to become a podcast star and Neg readers have chance to see his first episode first before its official launch tomorrow.

Newman, who runs hybrid agency Newman Property Experts but it also an MAB and Fine & Country franchise owner, opens up during this initial podcast to reveal details of his life before estate agency.

“Growing up poor, it was a tough start and a difficult childhood with a disabled sibling and a family suicide,” he says.

“Sean explains how he left home at an early age and how he faced numerous challenges to become an estate agent with Countrywide at the age of 19.

Sean goes on to tell some funny stories about having to run to appointments because he didn’t have a car and how there were some real financial struggles at the start of his career.

Self employed

During the episode Newman also reveals why he left Countrywide, his motivation to be successful and how he started his own estate agency and went on to survive the 2008 recession, which ultimately persuaded him to embrace the self-employed model.

Newman Property Experts now has over 100 self-employed Partner Agents and he talks about the advantages and disadvantages of this model.

“Many estate agents either don’t know about the self-employed model or don’t fully understand it.

“And many bosses will try to put their staff off the idea, however the reality is estate agency business owners, corporate or independent, should be very worried about their top lister or manager leaving to become self-employed.

“We are seeing the biggest ever change in the estate agency industry with more and more people becoming self employed estate agents.

The podcast, which is hosted by Sean’s 24-year-old son and property developer Tyler, can we watched here.
