Bidwells has chosen Patrick McMahon to continue as senior partner for a further four years when his current term ends in December 2017. Despite the norm of senior partner’s serving a maximum of two terms, the firm’s Partners voted unanimously last week for McMahon to lead the firm for an unprecedented third term.

Mr McMahon, who joined the firm’s London Investment team in 1989 and took up the role of senior partner in 2009, will retain the role through to 2022.

In his previous seven years as senior partner, Bidwells operating profit has grown by 118 per cent to over £6 million a year, average Partner earnings have increased by over 40 per cent and borrowing has reduced from £5 million to zero.

McMahon has also found time to lead on a number of ground breaking mixed-use development schemes including advising Brookgate on the delivery of CB1, Lord Rogers’ 1.6 million square feet masterplan vision to redevelop the area around Cambridge city station. He also guided Bidwells through a major rebrand last year to reinforce the firm’s strategy and has brought in new Equity Partners, including Mike Derbyshire as head of Planning from Savills and former Blenheim Palace chief executive, John Hoy, who joined this year to head the firm’s Rural division.
