An estate agency in West London is celebrating its 125th year in business as a both residential and commercial property firm.

Dutch & Dutch Estate Agents, which has been run by the same family for 75 years, was originally founded when a three-bedroom semi in the capital would have cost £250 rather than today’s more eye-watering £1 million average today.

The company has been run by the Matthews family since the 1950s including Len Matthews its first boss followed by his son Tony, who joined during the 1960s, and who is also now marking his 60th working for the business.

The 77-year-old (main image, fourth from left), who now works for the company as a consultant, says: “It’s been a joy to spend my life working in property.

“Every day has brought something different. I’ve met so many wonderful people—clients who’ve become friends, families and businesses I’ve helped more than once, and generations who trust us to be a part of their most important decisions.

“It’s been a real privilege to be part of their stories—and the story of this company.”

His son David (main image, front row, left), who is the current MD, adds: “Marking 125 years in business is incredibly meaningful.

“It’s about more than longevity—it’s about legacy, values, and people. Len and Tony’s contributions are part of what makes Dutch & Dutch such a unique and trusted name in the industry. As we look to the future, we carry that ethos forward.”

The company will be celebrating its anniversary with a series of community events and sponsorship and opportunities to thank the clients and neighbours who have supported it for more than a century.

The history of the firm prior to its connection with the Matthews family apperas to have been lost, other than it was established by two brothers in 1900.

The company has released a tongue-in-cheek short reel to promote its anniversary.
