Agent’s DIY proptech solution to age-old problem

Notts letting agent Aaron Cambden was so frustrated with key management problems in his business, he decided to build his own proptech solution.

A letting agent from Nottinghamshire has come up with his own proptech solution for key management, which he claims answers all his needs, where other systems didn’t quite do it for him.

The agent is Fairview Estates director, Aaron Cambden, who developed ‘Keyhive’ with experienced tech leader, David Gittins – formerly of The Ministry of Justice and Pearson Education.

Launching his new product Aaron said, “The stress of locating keys is something I have dealt with my whole career. Talking to other estate agents, I realised I wasn’t the only one to find managing keys to be a real headache.

“Initially, I searched the market to find a suitable solution for use in my own estate agent, and although there were a few options out there, I struggled to find one that did everything I needed. As a result, I decided to create my own. I engaged David’s help, and Keyhive came to be.”

Aaron describes Keyhive as a straightforward in-house kiosk and fob system that keeps track of your keys – assigning accountability to contractors, staff and tenants; offering real-time reports on the location of keys. It sends automatic reminders when a key is overdue.

Keyhive’s simple and secure solution frees staff from chasing contractors and locating misplaced keys, allowing them to focus on the more important matters of revenue generation and positive client relations.

The technical brains behind Keyhive, David Gittens, commented, “The result of our partnership is a solution that is easy to use, secure, compact, and most importantly: able to integrate effortlessly into an organisation’s existing key system.”

Keyhive is available to estate agents from today for a monthly charge of £55. Fobs are charged at £0.20 per item. An initial £150 setup fee is being waived for new users for a limited time.
