eXp agent guns for Edinburgh in cycle ride to raise cash for charity

Scott Gun has swapped the challenges of UK property with a gruelling 600 mile cycle from Margate to Edinburgh in aid of the Guy’s & St Thomas’ Charity.

eXp agent Scott Gunn

eXp UK agent Scott Gunn has over 15 years’ experience selling homes and is usually found tackling the housing market across the Isle of Thanet of the coast of Kent.

But now he has swapped the current challenges of the UK property to test himself with a gruelling 600-mile cycle from Margate to Edinburgh hoping to raise at least £5,000 for Guy’s & St Thomas’.

The charity provides hospital and community-based healthcare, research and education for children and their families. Its Evelina Children’s Ward helped Scott and his wife 12 years ago ahead of the birth of his daughter Boe who turned 12 on the 5th June – the day before he set off for Scotland.

If all has gone according to plan then Scott should be rolling into Edinburgh tomorrow (13th June) after cycling from Margate to Bishop Stortford, Grantham, York, Newcastle, Berwick Upon Tweed and finally to Edinburgh.

CHALLENGES

But the task had already thrown up a number of challenges before it had even started.

Having never cycled before Gunn purchased his first ever road bike which was then promptly stolen, requiring him to purchase a second bike before he could start training.

Training for two to three hours a day over the last five months, he has had two unscheduled dismounts and has also been subject to a mugging while stationary at a set of traffic lights.

ROADSHOW

His arrival in Edinburgh also coincides with eXp UK’s Edinburgh Roadshow and he will be greeted at the finish line by guest speaker and footballing legend, Kevin Keegan.

eXp UK agent Gunn says: “The first time in my life I’ve felt completely helpless was when my wife and I received the news that our daughter may have a heart defect and her chances of survival were slim at best.

“Within 24 hours we found ourselves at the Evelina Children’s Ward which is part of the Guy’s & St Thomas’ Trust and the staff were nothing short of exceptional.”
