Fenn Wright Acquires Thorntons

Independently owned East Anglian estate agency Fenn Wright has acquired the respected, Sudbury based, Thorntons for an undisclosed fee. The acquisition of the long established chartered surveyors and estate agents forms part of Fenn Wright’s long term growth strategy to expand into Sudbury and further enhance their service along the A12 corridor.
The office on Market Hill will be the eighth for property experts, Fenn Wright, the leading chartered surveyors, estate agents and consultants in the region.
Thorntons, established by Sam Thornton in 1989, is perfectly aligned with Fenn Wright: the compatible businesses share the same integrity, transparency and straight forward approach. The inherited properties will fit seamlessly into Fenn Wright’s growing portfolio, making the acquisition of Thorntons a natural progression.
I don’t see it as a sad day that Thorntons is closing, it is an exciting step and I’m delighted to still be in the heart of the community.
Sam Thornton will be joining the Sudbury team as an Associate Partner. He has 30 years’ experience selling properties on the Suffolk/Essex border.
Sam will join Graham Buxton, Partner, at Fenn Wright, in the management of the Sudbury branch. With a team of eight high calibre staff: a mix of Thorntons and Fenn Wright employees, plus new faces from the area. Sam said, “I’m really looking forward to joining the team at Fenn Wright. I don’t see it as a sad day that Thorntons is closing, it as an exciting step forward. I am delighted to still be in the heart of the local community.”
Alan Williams, Managing Partner at Fenn Wright added, “The acquisition of Thorntons wholly complements our strategy to expand our branch network. Sam is extremely well regarded; with his extensive knowledge of the local area, he provides an invaluable bridge between Fenn Wright and Sudbury, and is a familiar, friendly face for local residents.”
