An estate agent boss turned reality TV star is to showcase Jersey’s charms to a new audience of potential house-buyers.

Thompson Estates owner Margaret Thompson (pictured above, middle) is part of The Real Housewives of Jersey that’s set to air on ITVBe – the latest in a series which kicked off with The Real Housewives of Orange County and has also treated the nation to The Real Housewives of Cheshire. Fine & Country licensee Thompson aims to give a behind-the-scenes view of the Jersey property market in the show, which filmed on the island over the summer.

The estate agent moved up the ranks of another firm before starting her own agency in 2001. It won the Jersey Enterprise Awards only to be hit by the fall-out of the UK downturn and recession the following year. However, in 2007, her company partnered with Fine & Country to start marketing the island’s high-end homes around the world.

In her new TV role, she hopes to keep viewers glued to their screens, while featuring the many new builds and renovations of properties owned by high net worth individuals attracted to Jersey’s tax regime, easy travel connections and proximity to the rest of Europe.

“Jersey’s future looks bright and I’m sure the show will do a lot to increase interest in the island with tourists and property buyers alike,” she says. “The Real Housewives of Jersey will give the viewers the opportunity to see what our beautiful part of the world has to offer and what life is like on this small piece of heaven.”

Thompson, which is of Scottish heritage, is also well-known on Jersey for another reason – she met Donald Trump while on holiday in Florida at a social event before he became President of the US.

The first episode is to air soon.
