Wrap up warm! 100 industry figures prepare to sleep rough tonight for CentrePoint

Nearly 100 leading property industry figures are to meet in East London tonight to raise in excess of £50,000 for homelessness charity Centre Point.

The Negotiator will be there to report on the Great Agent Sleep Out event, which will include 800 people from other industries.

The list of those braving the chill November air to sleep rough at the Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park includes many of the industry’s best-known names.

These include former NAEA President Katie Griffin, current President Lauren Scott, Victoria Pinkerton, Valerie Bannister from Your Move, Kristjan Byfield from Base Property, Richard Payne from Clive Emson, Propertymark Chairman Chris Hamer, ARLA President Phil Keddie, consultant Mark Bentley plus James Munro, head of the Trading Standards Estate Agency Team.

Many organisations and property firms within the industry are being represented including Howsy, Strutt & Parker, Goodlord, Rentify, London Residential, TDS, Compass Residential, John German, Portico, Ashtons, SDL Auctions, Tenant Shop, Century 21 and JD Alexander.

“I have learned a lot about the work that Centrepoint does and there are so many reasons that people find themselves without the basic stability and comfort that the rest of us take for granted,” says Lauren Scott.

Phil Keddie (left) says: “In these uncertain times, it can be very easy to overlook the homeless and take the basic amenities we have for granted.

“Centrepoint is working to change this by helping the young and vulnerable and giving them the protection and help they need to have another chance. This sleepout is an opportunity for the industry to give something back, to a part of society that has become lost and desperately needs our help.”
