Reshuffle: Another housing minister moves on after a few months

Lucy Frazer, who was appointed as housing minister in October, is now Culture Secretary in Rishi Sunak's Cabinet.

Lucy Frazer (main picture) who is known to be an ally of Prime Minister Rishi Sunak, has been promoted from housing minister to Culture Secretary.

Frazer was responsible for housing strategy including policy on home ownership, buying and selling. She was the 14th housing minister in the space of 12 years, and her replacement will be the fifth in eight months.

She will take over the Department for Culture, Media and Sport replacing Michelle Donelan, and issues she will have to content with include the future of the BBC, Channel 4 and the controversial Online Safety Bill.

When she was appointed as a DLUHC minister it was her third post in less than two months. She was financial secretary to the Treasury before becoming a transport minister in September.

Frazer describes Sunak as a friend after they worked together at the Treasury in 2021 and early last year when Sunak was Chancellor. She was financial secretary to the treasury before becoming a transport minister in September.

Other appointments in the reshuffle include Kemi Badenoch becoming Business Secretary and Greg Hands taking over as Party Chairman, replacing Nadhim Zahawi who was sacked a week ago.

Grant Shapps has moved from the business brief to now be Energy Security and Net Zero Secretary.
