Leaders Romans group snaps up another independent estate agency

Leaders Romans Group (LRG) has continued its prolific efforts to grow by acquisition following the purchase of two-branch Swindon estate agency Dewhurst’s lettings business.

The existing lettings branch in the Taw Hill suburb of Swindon and its eight lettings staff are to transfer over to LRG, with the office to be rebranded as Romans.

The Dewhurst name will continue, as co-founder Mike Dewhurst (pictured) is to carry on working at Dewhurst & Co at its sales branch, concentrating on new homes.

His brother Chris Dewhurst is to continue running its existing North Swindon property sales office with his three estate agency colleagues.

The Dewhurst name is well known in the Swindon area after being established 24 years ago, growing to become one of the most successful letting operations in the town with the second-highest market share.

Dewhurst & Co is the Swindon representative of the 1200-agent strong Move With Us network.

The acquisition of its property portfolio and letting operation is part of a lively expansion effort by LRG, including four other acquisitions so far this year.

This included buying 13-branch Gibbs Gillespie in March along with Guardian Residential Lettings in Harlow, Eurolet in Bishop’s Stortford, and five-branch Hill & Clarke in the East Midlands.
