Plymouth estate agency swaps property pics for protest placards

Family-run Hindhead Property, based in Mutley, is backing Plymouth Live’s Change Plymouth campaign.

The campaign is stepping up as more people, perhaps frustrated with the UK’s political shambles, find a bit of positive activity in the campaign to help limit climate change.

The agency has also placed placards – designed by staff members’ children – in the windows of the Mannamead Road branch.

“We’re not going to change the world overnight, but as a business we can try to minimise our footprint,” said the Manager who closed the office to allow the team to take part in the strike.

Plymouth Live reported that Hindhead Property’s Laura Browne said, “We have recently signed up to Change Plymouth to help save the planet as a company.

“Our boss closed the office for three hours and we all walked down to take part in the strike, following the event we collected boards from other people to display in our window and we will keep them there until the end of October to maintain awareness. Changes are happening in Plymouth.”

Swap beeswax wrap for clingfilm

Laura told Plymouth Live she and the team ‘do quite a lot (to be environmentally-friendly) at home,’ including growing their own fruit and vegetables, using beeswax wrap instead of plastic film, partaking in meat free Monday and only printing documents when really necessary, but they wanted to do more.

So when they heard about the climate strike last month, they decided to get involved.

Armed with posters designed by their children, the team closed their office for three hours to join the campaigns in Plymouth city centre.

Director of Hindhead Property, Louis Orozco Lopez thinks we should all make small changes in our personal lives, but he hopes to use his business’ power to make a bigger positive difference.

“We’re not going to change the world overnight, but as a business we can try and minimise our footprint.”
