Crowdstrike-Microsoft IT crash – are you being affected?
A worldwide outage of online services, caused by a Crowdstrike cyber security update, is disrupting computer systems and could affect your business today.
An unprecedented outage in internet services is currently being experienced across the world.
The crash is centred around Microsoft-run software and is affecting communications, telephones, health systems, rail, air travel, banking systems, TV stations and many more systems, around the world and in many different sectors.
The problem is manifesting itself as a ‘blue screen of death’ on monitors, with no functionality at all.

Inevitably the property industry will be experiencing issues too and CRM property management platforms may well be affected and systems which rely on cloud-based storage and management, as well as payment systems.
The issue began to emerge just before 8am this morning and many housing transactions which take place on a Friday could be affected. It was first reported in Australia.
The current software crash is coincidental to the CHAPS outage which happened yesterday and unrelated and is centred on Microsoft systems. It is the result of an overnight software update to an integrated cyber security software called Crowdstrike Falcon, which has gone wrong.
Crowdstrike statement
Crowdstrike’s CEO George Kurtz has issued a statement saying, “Crowdstrike is actively working with customers impacted by a defect found in a single content update for Windows hosts.
“Mac and Linux hosts are not impacted. This is not a security incident or cyberattack.
“The issue has been identified, isolated and a fix has been deployed.

“We refer customers to the support portal for the latest updates and will continue to provide complete and continuous updates on our website.
“We further recommend organisations ensure they’re communicating with Crowdstrike representatives through official channels.
“Our team is fully mobilised to ensure the security and stability of Crowdstrike customers.”
Small businesses are less likely to have Crowdstrike Falcon as it is used by larger organisations. It is being suggested that the fix may not be quick and could persist for days, as it is probably a manual fix rather an automatic process.

Some services are coming back online, it is reported, but many continue to go down as the issue spreads across industry sectors.

Bring back the FAX machine and real holidays
No doubt Microsoft won’t pick up the bill for their 3rd rate software bugs. Too busy with plastic meat and flying around spouting off about climate change scam.
With our crippling dependency on IT/Tech, things can only get worse. As to AI, don’t make me laugh!
