Rightmove's AI comparison assistant is already boosting leads to agents, says its Chief Technology and Operations Officer Tarah Lourens.

Rightmove has added its artificial intelligence (AI)-powered comparison assistant directly onto property search result pages in its latest technological development.

The new Ask Rightmove tool lets home movers ask question and compare multiple properties side by side within search results.

The launch builds on the AI-powered Search Assistant first introduced via the homepage search bar in February and the Evaluation Assistant that launched in property listings in July.

Our latest AI-powered development helps movers better understand the differences between properties and identify the homes that best fit their needs.”

The enhanced conversational search experience will initially be rolled out to a subset of users before being scaled more broadly over time, Righmove said.

Users can ask conversational questions beyond traditional search filters about multiple properties and about the area they are searching in. Home movers can also add their own bespoke comparison criteria, generating unlimited additional comparison rows based on any topic that matters to them, such as proximity to supermarkets, suitability for hybrid working, nearby schools or access to transport links.

Questions such as ‘which home would be best for hybrid working’ and ‘which property has the most family-friendly features?’ or ‘compare the outdoor space across these homes” can be answered instantly.

The features use information provided by sales and letting agents within property listings, Rightmove’s extensive property data, Google Maps data, Experian for schools and Land Registry to generate responses.

Home movers using the Ask Rightmove search assistant are demonstrating higher levels of engagement throughout their search journey, Rightmove says.

In the period to 30 June, compared with those not using the feature, they spend 40% longer on Rightmove, save more than twice as many properties and send around twice as many leads to agents.

Tarah Lourens (pictured), Chief Technology and Operations Officer at Rightmove, says: “Rightmove is innovating across the property search journey.

“Our latest AI-powered development helps movers better understand the differences between properties and identify the homes that best fit their needs, making the search process more informed and efficient. At the same time, it helps our partners bring property listings to life by making key features more discoverable and meaningful to potential buyers and renters.”
