Agency considers appeal after £28,000 order in unfair dismissal case
Michael Bailey, owner of an estate agency in Preston, Lancashire, told The Neg he is considering an appeal after an employment tribunal ordered him to pay a former sales manager £28,000 for unfair dismissal.
A Preston estate agency may appeal an Employment Tribunal decision after being ordered to pay a former employee £28,000 following an unfair dismissal case.

Gillian Bevan worked as a sales and business support manager for the Michael Bailey Estate Agency for two-and-a-half years between 2020-2022.
She claimed unfair dismissal from the firm, and the tribunal agreed saying: “The claim of unfair dismissal is well founded and succeeds.”
The tribunal added: “The claimant’s complaint of unauthorised deduction from wages/breach of contract in respect of commission and expenses is well founded.”
Possible appeal
Michael Bailey, the firm’s owner (main picture), has told The Neg: “We note the outcome of the Employment Tribunal case brought by a former employee.
“We continue to maintain that we acted in good faith as an employer, and that we followed all applicable procedures.
“We are now going to take some time to study the decision with our representatives and consider our next steps, including the possibility of an appeal.”
Such payments are rare within the industry with only a few reaching an award like this, although firms face a range of different claims including unfair dismissal (as in this case) but also sex discrimination and constructive dismissal.
