Stephen Hayter, sales director at conveyancing giant and property services group Simplify and a volunteer mentor at Agents Together, has announced his retirement.

Taking to LinkedIn over the weekend Hayter said: “After a 51-year apprenticeship I am now fully qualified for retirement so I shall be leaving Simplify at the end of this month.”

Stephen Hayter, SimplifyReflecting on his long life in estate agency Hayter (pictured left) said that it was his ‘Careers Master’ Fred Merriman, who also taught RE, that had suggested he should consider estate agency.

“After all, I talked a lot in class, and looked out of the windows (boom boom), but it was him that prompted a career in property. I got the job he had on offer at Fox & Sons.”

Hayter told The Neg that it had been a pleasure to have worked for and with some brilliant people over the years, giving a special nod to MyhomeMove co-founder and now Flo Tec Executive’s Ian Floyed, Simplify chief business development officer Dev Malle and national sales director Mario Pitzioris.

If I am still wanted I shall continue with my mentoring for Agents Together.”

Hayter adds: “MyHomeMove was a millennium project and I could not be more proud of all that has been achieved. From a cold start to the country’s largest conveyancer means more than just millions of completions. It also means creating thousands of jobs in the UK and India.”

MENTORING

“If I am still wanted I shall continue with my mentoring for Agents Together. If I am able to help people or organisations then I might consider it. But in no way will I conflict with the activities of Simplify.

“It’s funny what people try and read into things. But I must say that I am overwhelmed at the response.”

Adam Day, expansion leader at eXp UK, commented: “What an inspiration and legacy – you’ve helped me a lot over the last 10 years.”

Graham Lock, founder and chief executive of the Federation of Independent Agents, adds: “A real pleasure working with you at various stages of my property career, one of the industry’s good guys. Enjoy a well-earned retirement.”

Dev Malle adds: “Congratulations and thank you! Delighted you are continuing as chair of Simplify Charitable Trust too. Your contribution to the industry has been colossal.”
