Tech will never replace estate agents – says proptech boss!
Gemma Young, co-founder of proptech company Moverly believes technology only provides a framework rather than a complete solution.
Despite the march of artificial intelligence and other tech into the estate agency sector one industry figure has made the surprising claim that it “will never replace humans”.

Gemma Young, Co-founder of proptech company Moverly, does not think it will be the solution to every problem. Instead, she says the best proptech provides a framework and is a facilitator rather than a magic wand.
Working in the sector she is well aware how much the property industry has come to rely on technology, for everything from search portals, to CRMs and software tools that streamline the sales and lettings process for agents and their customers.
However clever technology will become, it can’t digitise empathy.”
She says however clever technology will become, it can’t “digitise empathy” – AI and tech won’t replace humans but humans with tech and AI skills will.
She cites the recent Trading Standards guidance on upfront information for property transactions as a good example.
Moverly claims it leverages technology to gather and display all the relevant information, easing the burden on agents and freeing up their time for more profitable activities. Its platform doesn’t just onboard customers it also helps build strong connections with their preferred partners such as property lawyers.
