Salisbury Novichok house for sale raises conveyancing concerns
The property was the home of former Russian military officer Sergei Skripal, who was poisoned in a failed assassination attempt.

The three-bedroom house involved in the Salisbury Novichok poisoning is for sale, prompting conveyancing concerns.
The property was home to Sergei Skripal and his daughter Yulia, who were poisoned in a failed assassination attempt in 2018.
Sergei was a former Russian military officer and double agent for the British intelligence agencies.
The pair were poisoned by a Novichok nerve agent and spent several weeks in hospital.
Conveyancing concerns
Comments on social media raised questions about what the homebuying process would reveal.
One X.com user, going by the name of Sir Humphrey, said: “I can’t begin to imagine what the conveyancing searches will say.”
This property was involved in the Novichok event that took place in 2018.”
The link-detached property is advertised for sale as shared ownership, with an asking price of £114,000.
The agent handling the sale, Carter May, was contacted by The Neg and declined to comment.
The end of the listing confirms: “For full disclosure, this property was involved in the Novichok event that took place in 2018.”
Shared ownership
The listing also highlights that the property is shared ownership, and is available to staircase up to 75% ownership (Wiltshire Council) – with a 30% share, the rent on remaining 70% is £559.52.
There are also solar panels owned by the property, which are used to heat up the hot water.
Similar properties on Christie Miller Road that are owned outright sell for significantly more. Examples include a four-bedroom house on the same road that was sold for £475,000 last year.
Carter May described the property in the listing as ‘a good-sized three-bedroom link detached family home that has been thoughtfully enhanced by the current vendors, creating a fantastic opportunity for a range of prospective buyers.
“The property occupies a convenient, yet tucked-away residential positioned with excellent access to nearby amenities, including public transport links, schools, local supermarkets and Salisbury city centre.”
