New agent-controlled ‘local’ portal, Wearethemarket, launches first territory

Portal first revealed last month is now live in Coventry and Warwickshire with over 3,000 properties from 53 estate agency branches.

Much anticipated new estate agency-run property portal Wearethemarket.co.uk has officially launched today.

Its website is now live for the platform’s first local operation across Coventry and Warwickshire featuring 3,100 local properties with many others territories lined up to go live in the coming months, its co-founder Mike Cleary has told The Negotiator.

“It’s a huge step forward in our journey to becoming a household name,” says Cleary.

“Since breaking cover last month, we’ve generated serious interest from within our community of independent agents and are now in dialogue with major firms in Oxfordshire, Northamptonshire and Gloucestershire.”

The idea behind the portal is to create a patchwork of agent-owned businesses under the Wearethemarket.co.uk umbrella and grow, organically.

First territory

Launched to appeal to leading independent agents in every area of the UK, it now has 28 member agents with 53 offices within the initial West Midlands launch area.

Cleary says the portal expects home hunters to be given 80% market coverage within each area because that is the level of listings held by leading independent agents in many areas of the property market, including in Coventry and Warwickshire.

“We’re excited that wearethemarket.co.uk is now live with so many independent agents signed up as ambassadors for the portal, as well as rugby legend Jason Robinson OBE lending his support.

“As independent agents, we have unrivalled knowledge of our local areas and our clients deserve to see the best properties and the best of the surrounding area all in one place,” said Mike Cleary, who runs local independent agency Sheldon Bosley Knight (pictured).

Peter Clarke (pictured), another of the agents behind the portal, says: “The idea of listing our properties in one place for the consumer is not new, but we have done it intertwining it with our role in promoting the location, creating a local hub that is easy to use and stripped bare of the usual advertising and calculators that detract from the search experience.”

  1. Thank you as always Murray.

Our model works for anyone anywhere. Furthermore, if you can mobilise your locality (we found 4 or 5 of the top 6 or 7 Independent agents is enough), our website should also give you the platform to drop all other portals in time. We are here to set you up and recruit in your locality. If you’d like to know more please email me:

Why not own your own portal, control your own destiny (and costs) by joining us?

  2. What a great inspired idea.
Mike has a vision that I fully support and wish him and the other members the best of luck

Given the whole of the Estate Agencies support this could go a long way of breaking that portal domination and put control (and costing) back in our hands

    Good luck @Wearethemarket
