Landlord, property developer and industry figure Mandy St John Davies has received the honour, one of just two from the property sector.

A leading member of a campaign to nurture and support women working in the property industry has received an MBE in the New Year’s Honour list.

Amanda St John Davey (pictured), who joined Women in Property during 2018, has held or still holds three roles at the organisation, which believes that “success and its rewards should be founded on merit and expertise, rather than gender”.

These roles have included National Chairman, Vice National Chairman and an ongoing member of its National Strategic Advisory Board.

Wales-based St John Davey is a property developer, business mentor, property coach and landlord with a large residential property portfolio both in the UK and overseas.

Women in Property operates within both construction as well as property, seeking an industry that is “balanced, diverse and inclusive, so we nurture girls aspiring to a career in the built environment sector, as well as supporting those in ‘mid-career’ and at board level”.

It is sponsored by Savills as well as Amazon, Bouygues UK and TP Bennett and has a dozen regional branches across the UK.

The only other property figure to receive a gong in the Honours List was Andrew Dixon, who is well knows as a campaigner for property tax reform via his Fairer Share website.

Dixon and his supporters want the council tax to be abolished and replaced with a more proportional annual property value tax.

Urging a future Labour Government to embrace his ideas, he recently said that: “Property tax reform is a policy that can capture the attention and support of a broad spectrum of voters. “Proportional property taxes are commonplace in many countries indicating their feasibility and acceptance among the public.”
