OnTheMarket acting CEO Clive Beattie has confirmed that he is in the running to keep his top job at the portal, which yesterday posted its latest results.
The 53-year-old moved from being the company’s Chief Financial Officer to its CEO on 6th March when the previous incumbent, Ian Springett, left the company amid rumours of key differences with the board over the portal’s direction of travel.
Beattie says the selection process of finding the next CEO for OnTheMarket has been completed and that he’s on the shortlist along with several external candidates.
“The process is being run by the chairman and the non-exec directors but it has been affected by Covid because it’s more difficult to have meetings and interview external candidates,” he says.
“We do recognise that it’s in all our interests to complete the property as quickly as possible but clearly the pandemic hasn’t helped.
“I’m expecting, as I’m sure the Chairman Chris Bell and the board are too, to get it done soon.”
Beattie says that if he gets the job then the portal will look for a new CFO but that if he doesn’t, then he will return to his former job.
He does have CEO experience – including at his two previous roles – and he also worked as an executive director at UBS Investment Bank for 12 years.
