Outsourced property viewings platform Viewber is now being used by all the UK’s best-known high street estate agency brands, it has claimed, marking a milestone for the business co-founded nearly three years ago by former Douglas & Gordon director Ed Mead.
The company says it can’t reveal names of the companies involved yet as many of them remain coy about using Viewber despite its benefits for staff and the business expansion opportunities it presents.
“We are rapidly increasing the range of agents who are using our service, and the number of them using us to provide cover for weekend property viewings has really been ramping up over the past month or so,” says Mead. “It’s very rapidly going in the right direction.”
Mead (left) launched the property viewings business in September 2016 with co-founder Marcus de Ferranti and later gained financial backing from former Foxtons and Marsh & Parsons boss Peter Rollings.
Rollings and Mead recently completed an online webinar for agents, revealing their views on how agents can stand out in a crowded market.
During it Rollings revealed that the idea to make Foxtons’ shop fronts look like coffee shops was founder Jon Hunt’s idea, also revealing that he took the ‘hyper aggressive’ approach that has made Foxtons infamous, and the “much nicer, more charming people” at Marsh & Parsons to grow the agency after leaving Foxtons.
“If you can combine those two elements you have a winning position.”
The business has also been relatively cash-hungry, requiring several investment-raising rounds including, in April last year, an additional £2.8 million sourced from new investors, industry partners and staff.
