London estate agency Portico has poached leading UK financial services figure Paul Tait from KFH to launch its newly minted mortgage and insurance arm.
Tait has spent the past seven months preparing to launch Portico Finance which has been out across its 17 branches in London and recently-opened offices in Manchester and Liverpool.

Before working for KFH and Portico, Tait has enjoyed a stellar career working in similar roles at RBS, Barclays and Savills Private Finance including a track record in launching mortgage brokerages.

At Portico this has included gaining FCA-approval for the new business, which offers a panel of 50 lenders from large banks and building societies to more specialist buy to let firms for portfolio landlords.

The new team is based in Fulham, West London and will provide a face-to-face, telephone and digital service.

“Whether a client is a first-time buyer, an experienced buy to let landlord looking to refinance a portfolio, or someone looking to re-mortgage, our team will review client’s circumstances and provide advice on the most suitable options,” Paul.

Caffeine competition

But mortgage business is not the company’s only launch. The company has also launched a charity raising campaign via its loyalty card at the coffee shops of London firm Perky Blenders.

Every Portico branded coffee cup sold by the chain will include details of Portico’s summer prize-draw for a free property sale, and Portico will also donate 5p from every cup of coffee to the Papyrus charity which is dedicated to the prevention of young suicide.

Robert Nichols, CEO of Portico Estate Agents, said, “The London property market remains a buyers’ market. London buyers negotiated an average asking price discount of 5.7 per cent in April – which has increased from 4.8 per cent the year before.

For this reason, it’s more important than ever to find a proactive agent who will work hard to sell your property, for the best price – or free if you win.”
