PropTech and the property pros

81% of property professionals believe that PropTech is benefiting the industry, but says Rolf Groenewold, MD, KeyAGENT, adoption is relatively slow.

We know that the property sector is benefiting from an influx of tech solutions, but, recently my team and I went to a live property debate based on research by Feefo.

One of the stats really stuck with me: 81 per cent believe tech has the power to transform the property industry, yet adoption has been relatively slow.

It’s amazing that it’s taking this long for the phrase ‘Property Technology’ to catch on! PropTech is making things more efficient, laying the foundations for better customer service and ultimately creating the opportunity to re-write how we buy, sell or rent property.

THE INNOVATORS

Fixflo, HyStreet, PropertyBOX and KeyAGENT and others are developing the technology to help agents in their business; from improving the property management process, to providing an option to establish an online offering, through to having the technology available to lift the visual appearance of every property in your portfolio, regardless of budget.

It comes back to customer expectations, exceptional customer service and affordable pricing. Using the right technology can help you meet the challenges of tomorrow but first you need to open your mind to the thought that the future of your business could be totally different from today! To some, this is a daunting prospect and to others it’s invigorating – that’s where disruption is born – you ride the wave or be left behind.

In a world of diminishing physical contact and rising online activity, consumers demand more intelligent services from the comfort of their home or smartphone. They believe everything is available instantly, at high quality and at a cost that most would deem impossible. PropTech is the only way for the property market to adapt to these changes in consumer behaviour.

Expectations have increased and we haven’t even started servicing the SnapChat generation who’ll never have known any different! As for the visual experience for property online, the industry is way behind. Most GenX ‘Millennials’ can take a snap on their phone, apply Instagram filters and produce ‘better’ photos than we see on most properties – something needs to change!

THE WINNERS

More interactions are moving online and businesses that can build trust and deliver to OnDemand expectations will win. We’ve launched the world’s first floor plan and photo enhancing app, PropertyBOX to meet expectations for beautiful visual content with high quality photos and floor plans.
