Symonds & Sampson sold properties in Devon, Somerset, Dorset and Wiltshire at their April auctions with buyers from all over the region, the South East and London as well as abroad.

Auctioneer Mark Lewis was very pleased with the results, “We had mainly residential and commercial lots for sale but there were also some parcels of amenity land that proved very popular.”

Highlights included a dilapidated thatched cottage at Pimperne, Dorset, which proved very popular and sold for £110,000, 22 per cent above guide; a three bedroom detached cottage which sold for £260,000, 30 per cent above reserve and an attractive building plot in Charmouth sold for £150,000; 76 per cent above guide.

In East Devon a 10 acre broadleaf wood sold for £74,000 – an excellent 64 per cent above guide, but the most excitement was reserved for a wooden bungalow (pictured) set in grounds of about 0.67 acres. Described by one viewer as a piece of paradise there was scope to apply for planning permission for a new property on the site and it attracted great interest. There were 18 bids before the gavel dropped at £400,000 to a buyer in Italy.
